Sustainability at Holmes Hotel

Doing good, thinking bigger.

We put sustainability at the heart of everything we do. We invest in our planet’s future by supporting local communities and minimising our waste, water, and energy footprints.

How we’re making change

We’ve created robust environmental and social programs to help reduce our energy usage and the resources our hotel needs.

Our progress so far

  • We use 100% renewable energy to power our hotel.
  • Holmes is Green Tourism certified and is expected to obtain a BREEAM Excellent certification in 2025.
  • In 2024, we replaced all single-use toiletry bottles in our rooms with large refillable dispensers.
  • Meetings held at Holmes Hotel are all 100% carbon neutral.

What we're working on

  • A detailed climate risk assessment for our property.
  • Improved waste management practices.

OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES

We champion our neighbours and partners in the local area through fundraisers and volunteering, as well as employment and development opportunities.

Our progress so far

In 2024, we helped raise over £129,000 for Just A Drop, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene projects to communities in South-East Asia, Africa and Latin America. This brings the total raised since the start of our collaboration to over £250,000.

What we’re working on

Launching a Local Community Volunteering scheme.

OUR SUPPLIERS

We develop long-term relationships with our suppliers to ensure our impact on the environment, economy and society up and down the chain is a net positive one.

Our progress so far

  • The annual assessments of our supply chain now measure the climate-related risks and carbon emissions that they’re responsible for.
  • In our restaurants, we’re engaging with specific suppliers to understand the sustainability of fish stocks and ensure our menus do not contribute over over-fishing.
  • Since 2024, we’re worked alongside our London laundry services supplier to reduce energy and water consumption associated with their service, a collaboration that will continue in 2025.

What we’re working on

  • Establishing sourcing policies to improve the environmental and social profile of the products we purchase to ensure we achieve net zero by 2040.

OUR PEOPLE

We empower everyone to be their whole selves and feel a sense of belonging, helping promote diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEI&A).
